Ancient Viral Gene Splicing May Be Responsible For Some Cases of Lou Gehrig's Disease

 
     An ancient virus, known as human endogenous retrovirus K (HERV-K,) that spliced itself into haman genes may play a role in Lou Gehric's Disease according to a new study. Study leader, Avindra Nath was originally treating an HIV patient with antiretoviral drugs when he noticed that the man's Lou Gehrig's symptoms also improved. After doing some research, Nath discovered that people reported seeing reverse transcriptase in the blood, which is a hallmark of retroviruses due to the fact they can use it to insert copies of their genes into their host's.

Selfie Related Deaths Are Now Higher Than Shark Attack Deaths



     According to Mashable, in the past year there were a total of 12 selfie related fatalities, including a man who was mangled trying to snap a selfie during the running of the bulls. To put this into perspective, they compared it to the number of shark related deaths in the same year, which only stand at 8. The world is definitely changing each year.

     Students are organizing the first ever Million Student March, to march against student debt. The demands of the march are as follows:

  1. Tuition-Free Public College
  2. Cancellation of All Student Debt
  3. A $15 Minimum Wage for All Campus Workers

Mealworms Found to Survive on a Diet of Plastic



     Mealworms were found to be able to live on a diet of styrofoam and plastic. This is of course a revolutionary discovery because we litter more and more plastic into our Earth each year. The mealworm possesses microorganisms it it's gut that allow it to digest polyethylene. Not only can the mealworms eat plastic, but after studying the growth and health of said mealworms, they were found to be just as healthy as other mealworms who did not eat plastic.

The Weeknd Calls Out a Club For Claiming He Was There
