Mealworms Found to Survive on a Diet of Plastic

Mealworms were found to be able to live on a diet of styrofoam and plastic. This is of course a revolutionary discovery because we litter more and more plastic into our Earth each year. The mealworm possesses microorganisms it it's gut that allow it to digest polyethylene. Not only can the mealworms eat plastic, but after studying the growth and health of said mealworms, they were found to be just as healthy as other mealworms who did not eat plastic.
